As far as I can tell, the chief component that drives demand on a currency, is when the demand for it exceeds its supply (as exemplified in this video); because the thing is, when this happens, we can increase the price of the currency (because its demand went up) so that we can compensate for its low supply. The fiat currency of Zimbabwe is worthless because they have so grossly overinflated their currency, not because the government decree is worthless. If an economy grows more than that, the relative value of gold would go up prompting yet more mining. Secondly, it is 'not' a disaster to an economy if prices fall. They do all the time in some industries and they do just fine. If an economy grew faster than the gold supply, prices would naturally fall as a result, making savings that much more lucrative.

Due to possible retaliation actions? that the USA was going to take against China , the Chinese are planning on pegging their currency on the Yen now. Since the Japanese Yen, has appreciated drastically since the recession and the Japanese are trying to depreciate their currency in order to sell their exports at lower prices.... they ain't gonna like that....

My brother gave me Iraqi money from 2003 which, other than looking ugly w/ that creep's face plastered all over it, is useless. Why can't I sell the money-like my brother told me to do? Isn't that trading the dollar for the dinar? But when I tried to give it to the bank (in 2003), they refused to take it and exchange it for US dollars. He said it has? no value. I said 'Well it has no value in my house either. As anything other than keeping the rats away. Can anyone explain this?

Very difficult to address the needs of Germany at the same time as Greece (especially when there isn't a consistent fiscal policy).
